I recently came across a small tool that can help you backup your san switch configuration in no time, yes without logging in.

A simple tool which make the configuration’s backup of your SAN switches simple and easy. It actually works with Cisco, Brocade and McData switches and allows you to get the configuration of your switch by SCP or FTP. You don’t need to install or configure a SSH or a FTP server on your computer.

It is a command-line program that connect with SSH to your switch. The support of telnet connections will come soon.

It uses different components : Paramiko, pyftpdlib.

The support of the TFTP protocol doesn’t work for the moment because the library tftpy doesn’t support downloads.

It is very simple to use it. options are :

-i : IP of the switch.

-s : Type of the switch. Possible values are : cisco or brocade or mcdata

-u : User on the switch.

-p : Password of the user on the switch.

-t : Type of transfert. Possible values are : scp (by default) or ftp

-c : Type of client. Possible values are : ssh or telnet (SSH by default).

-g : Generate a RSA key for the SSH server. Possible values are : yes or no (no by default). The key will be stored in the file new_server_rsa.key. If you want to use it, please rename the new file with the name : server_rsa.key

-e : Execute a command. Save the output of the command fulfilled in a file.

-l : The IP interface on which the server will be attached

-n : The NAT IP address on which the server will be recheable

-o : The float timeout value in for SSH or Telnet commands. 5.0 seconds by default

Your configuration will be stored in a directory with the name of your switch.

Examples:

For making a backup of a cisco switch by SCP with a SSH connection :

SaveSimplyyourSAN -i 192.168.0.1 -u admin -p password -s cisco -t scp -c ssh

or more simply (SCP and SSH connection are values by default) :

SaveSimplyyourSAN -i 192.168.0.1 -u admin -p password -s cisco

For making a backup of a brocade switch by FTP with a telnet connection :

SaveSimplyyourSAN -i 192.168.0.1 -u admin -p password -s brocade -t ftp -c telnet

For making a backup of a McData switch and redirect the result in a file (works on windows):

SaveSimplyyourSAN -i 192.168.0.1 -u admin -p password -s mcdata >mcdata-backup.log 2>&1

For making a backup of a configuration of a McData switch (grab the output of the command “show all” by telnet)

Assuming you have Microsoft Windows XP.

1) Click on “Start” -> “Run”

2) Edit system registry.

Type in “regedit” without double quotes (”) and press enter

3) Before making any changes I would recommend to take a backup of the system registry.

4) Once you have taken a backup, you can now key in the valid microsoft office 2007 registration key.

Locate and then click the following subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\ProductID

Here you can remove the old key and input the new key.

Job done.

At the end of 2009, CNNIC released more restrictive rules and regulations by requesting hard copies of registrant company certificates and signatures. The Registry has now implemented a new auditing system of all new .CN domain registrations in order to enhance the authenticity, accuracy and integrity of the domain name information. Due to these changes, some registrars have had to suspend new .CN domain registrations due to the difficulty this new process represents.

Furthermore, CNNIC sent out a notice on January 5th to suspend all new applications from overseas registrars. It is said that CNNIC is considering conducting audits on existing .CN domains as well.

At this stage there is no information as to when this suspension will end.

Do you get this message -

“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page”

because -

- you have changed the domain name of your blog?

- you have moved your blog from multi-blog database domain to self hosted domain?

I had similar problem on one of my sites.

NOTE: Make sure you take a FULL backup of your database.

1) Assuming you have a new domain name and its pointing to the correct word press folder.

2) Once you have created a blank database, import the backup taken earlier.

3) If you know MySql commands to change all the old table names from OLDwp_ to NEWwp_ and the entries within the tables then it should be straight forward. If not like me, you need to follow these steps to complete the move successfully.

Manuall changes into the database :

- if the old table names are – OLDwp_ , rename all of them to NEWwp_

- have a look at the _options and _usermeta tables

- change all the fields that are showing as OLD_ entries to the NEW_

Now try accessing your blog …/wp-admin/login.php. You should now get the error message – “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page”

4) Follow the instructions of force-upgrade.php as suggested by markjaquith.

5) Once you have done as instructed above, you can try logging in again as admin.

6) For some people it straight away takes you into the admin dashboard, but for some it takes into the subscribers dashboard – this is what happened to me. To resolve this -

- go in to the MySql database -> _usermeta table

On the right column you should now see the this ” a:1:{s:10:”subscriber”;b:1;} ” (without double quotes). Replace this with the admin persmissions – ” a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;b:1;} ” (again without double quotes).

Now try login to your Admin account again, you should be able to login in to the Admin Dashboard.

One this I noticed in my situation, after doing all the above, I found that I couldn’t upgrade any plugins, themes, WP upgrades, etc, I could do that by manual ftp though, but the “Add New” button was missing from “Appeareance and Plugins” section.

Ok, since you are now able to login as Admin, its time to fix the upgrade problem.

Login into the MySql database -> _options table and look for “db_version”, this should be most likely on the second page. In my case the db_version was 11548, so I changed this to 8204, as described in here.

Now, when you try to login as Admin, it will ask you whether you would like to upgrade the database. In my case I chose to go ahead and took a risk – don’t worry you still had a backup in case if something would go wrong here. It did something inside the database and WOW, I could now see all the options in the dashboard that were missing earlier.

If you check the db_version again, it should now read as 11548.

See this wasn’t too difficult to move the wordpress blog from one domain name to another

There is a quick  solution to resolve this. Edit the file …./wp-includes/http.php and search for this entry.

Increase the timeout “5″ to “30″ seconds. This should do the trick.

1) Using the dfault value you can extend your logical volume -

# lvextend -m 1 /dev/vgname/lvolName

This is simple hp-ux mirroring. LVEXTEND will mirror the logical volume to the next immediate disk/LUN e.g. cxtxdx

2) Assuming you want to mirror you logical volume on a specific disk/LUN.

# lvextend -m 1 /dev/vgname/lvolname /dev/dsk/cxtxdx

Mirror logical volume to the given disk/LUN e.g. cxtxdx

Using “lvdisplay /dev/vgname/lvolname -v” , you can confirm if your logical volume is mirrored to the disk as defined in lvextend.

3) The third method involves amending/creating /etc/lvmpvg

# vi /etc/lvmpvg

This will allow you to have a strict policy (see # man lvextend) for mirroring using Physical Volume group file.

# cat /etc/lvmpvg

PVG     /dev/vgname
PVG     PVG
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0
/dev/dsk/c0t1d1

From the above example, the first 3 devices in the lvmpvg file are the primary devices. The next 3 devices in the lvmpvg file are the mirror devices.

# mount /dev/vgname/lvolname (make sure the file system is mounted)

#lvchange -a g /dev/vgname/lvol  (you are telling the logical volume to use lvmpvg file)

This will force the logical volume to create mirror on to another set of 3 devices as defined in lvmpvg file – under PVGm1.

So, now if you use lvxtend without any device names, it should create a mirror on the devices as defined under PVGm1.

#lvextend -m 1 /dev/vgname/lvol – (This should create a mirror on PV in PVGm1 group)

The process involves reducing the file system and then the logical volume.

Once you have defrag the file system first, you can now reduce the file system.

1) First reduce the file system

# fsadm –F vxfs –b SmallerM /Fsname (Use “M” if the size is in Megabyte)

2) Now reduce the logical volume.

# lvreduce –L Smallersize /lvname (same size as used above)

NOTE: Make sure you are follow step 1 and 2 in sequece and not other way round, else you will loose your data.

IP address

Lead
Some online merchants don’t offer anything for direct sale on their websites. Instead, they use their sites as a primary point of contact. Lurking

Mailing list

Modem

Router

Aftere the installation is complete you should the message 100% completed.  If you would like to verify the installation, then, you can run “swlist” -

# swlist |grep -i “your depot name“

This should give you the out put.

Assuming you have a .depot/software file is under /var/adm/sw directory.

# swinstall -s /var/adm/sw/software_file.depot
